My working career began in magazines when, straight out of college, I was offered a job at Top Sellers in Wardour Street by my friend
Dez Skinn.
Dez, an ex-IPC editor, was at the time creator and editor of a
House of Hammer. It was while at Top Sellers that I met the people who were to be the biggest influences on my working life, including Alan Jones, Tony Crawley, Phil Edwards and
Steve Parkhouse.
I then went on to work on
Starburst magazine, at Marvel Comics UK alongside
Richard Burton.
Richard and I were to work together again a couple of years later on
2000AD and after that on
Fun Online.
Fun Online led to
At Home with Your PC, which led to me becoming involved in the web, which led me to the BBC and the joys of corporate IT departments ...
It's been an interesting journey.
