During the 1990s there was a glut of what were termed 'bad girl' comics, many of which became very collectible. Some of these comics were actually quite good. Lumped in with the rest - unfairly - was Dawn ... | However, Dawn wasn't strictly a "bad girl" book. The character was a goddess and didn't get involved with violence herself. But what set these books apart was the incredible draftmanship of Joseph Linsner. | Eventually, larger companies like Image started trying to get into bad girl comics, but the ship had already sailed and only the quality stuff, like Dawn, is still being published . | ||||
Crypt of Dawn 2 (1997) The very impressive artwork of Linsner is the key selling point of the Dawn books, but he's proven himself to be a pretty good writer too ... |
Dawn: Devil's Halo(1997) Not a mistake, the book was published this way, with no logo or cover lines cluttering up the admittedly very sexy art. |
Danger Girl 2 (1998) Danger Girl was a light hearted romp and this cover brings to mind the poster for the movie American Beauty. |
